Scottish Governments January 2021 Lockdown- Latest Guidance on Moving Home
4th of January, 2021
Full update on the Current Situation for Buyers and Sellers From Fiona at Wrights of Campsie.
Although the Scotland (and indeed the UK) have gone into lockdown once again January 2021, the property industry remains open.
This means that we can conduct viewings and help people to carry out their moving plans. The Scottish Government has confirmed you ‘may leave home for activities in connection with moving home (including viewing a property)’
For the viewings we will be conducting during the lockdown period, our priority is to make sure our clients, our buyers and our team are safe.
Safe viewings: Since the housing market re-opened in June last year, we have been conducting safe viewings, and will continue to do so, including both viewers and our team members wearing masks and gloves, making sure viewings are ‘contactless’, taking viewers’, and restricting viewings to only those buyers who are in a position to make an offer.
Safe valuations: We are still able to offer valuation/advice appointments to homeowners looking to move, following the same safety guidelines. If you need a valuation but would prefer this to be done remotely, we can also offer advice via video. Just call us on 01360 739 739 or email us at team@wrightsofcampsie.co.uk and we will arrange this for you.
Moving house safely: People are still able to move home during this new lockdown period, the Scottish Government has stated that tradespeople may enter your home to support a home move, for example furniture removal.
Estate agents, conveyancers, surveyors and removal firms are all required to work in accordance with Scottish Government guidelines, and as the situation changes, we will provide further updates on an ongoing basis.
How you can help us, to help you: If you’re selling your home with us right now, it’s important to be viewing-ready, so if you haven’t already received our Preparing to Sell Checklist, you can email us on team@wrightsofcampsie.co.uk and we’ll send it to you straight away.
To make sure your home is safe to view, and reassure viewers, all surfaces need to be sparkling clean, using a bleach-based cleaner where possible and appropriate. A home that smells freshly cleaned will help a buyer to relax, so they can better focus on the features of your home.
